Narrandera is located on the intersection of the Sturt and Newell highways and has a strong commercial and service centre as a gateway to the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area (MIA).
The MIA irrigation canal originates at Narrandera, also known for its wetlands, water activities and sports on Lake Talbot.
Regional weekly coverage extends to neighbouring towns of Leeton, Yanco, Barellan, Gamain and Grong Grong, plus the Lockhart and Coolamon Shires.
