Argus print publication takes a break amid takeover talks
1 min read

Today is the final issue of this masthead for the 2020-21 financial year.

The Argus is finalising negotiations with another like-minded country newspaper owner to take over the Argus masthead to ensure the newspaper remains a part of the local community as it has done for the past 140 years.

The intention is to resume publication in print as early as possible in the new financial year with the same masthead but a new owner.

The Argus was one of the few print newspapers of its size to continue printing during COVID closures last year and this was testament to the determination and hard work of management and staff to continue to print and serve local and regional communities.

It is with this in mind that we are working to ensure the newspaper continues in print and online. During the recess we will be providing updates as soon as negotiations are completed.

Regional news coverage of surrounding centres including Lockhart, Coolamon, Coleambally and Darlington Point as well as Barellan, which is located in the Narrandera Shire, will continue, as will the website and digital subscriptions introduced last year.

We look forward to returning in the new financial year and hope you will continue to support the Argus with advertising, newspaper sales and news reports of what is happening in your local communities.

In the meantime, the Argus office in East Street Narrandera will be closed until a date to be announced soon.
