ANZAC Day this year will be observed on April 25 by RSL sub-branches and communities across the Argus’ coverage area. 

Narrandera Sub-branch will be holding its Dawn Service in the Memorial Gardens followed by a Gun Fire breakfast in the Blue Apron Steakhouse at the Ex-servicemen’s Club.

A service at the War Graves will be held at 9am, followed by the form-up of veterans at 10.30am to move at 10.45am to the Memorial Gardens for the ANZAC Day Commemorative Service at 11am.

There is expected to be an RAAF fly over during the service to commemorate 100 years of RAAF service to Australia which is being celebrated this year.

For RSL Sub Branch members and invited guests a luncheon will be held in the Ex-servicemen’s Club and two-up will be played later on.

Guest speaker at Narrandera’s observance will be Mitch Higbed, Squadron Leader 1 Flight Commander, School of Post Graduate Studies.

All COVID-19 practices will be in place with electronic registration and manual sign in to those who are marching and those at all of the services.
 

ANZAC DAY SERVICES

Ardlethan (includes Beckom): 6am Dawn Service at RSL Club Rooms. 10.45am March from Ardlethan Post Office to Cenotaph for service at 11am. Bobby Chard Memorial service at Ardlethan cemetery at 11.45am.

Barellan: 3pm Commemoration service – all welcome. Afternoon tea following the service, with all proceeds to Legacy.

Coleambally- Darlington Point: 6am Dawn Service at John McInnes Square, Coleambally. 11am Ceremony at followed by a light lunch at the Coleambally Community Club.

Ganmain (includes Matong): 6am Dawn Service Memorial Gate at Ganmain Bowling Club. 9.30am assemble at corner of Ford and Watermain Streets for 10am March to Memorial Gate for main service at 10.30am. 5.30pm Retreat service at flag pole inside Memorial Gate.

Grong Grong: 7.30am Service followed by a cuppa at the Grong Grong War Memorial Commemoration Hall.

Jerilderie: 6am Dawn Service at the Cenotaph followed by breakfast at the Tidy Towns Shed at Luke Park. 10am March and wreath laying – meet outside Jerilderie Chemist.

Leeton: 6am Short march along Pine Avenue from Church Street to Cenotaph. Form up outside Courthouse and down Church Street at 9.45am for March which halts to lay a wreath at the World War 2 Memorial Rose Garden, then proceeds to the Cenotaph for the Main Service at 10am. Following service, uniformed personnel march down Kurrajong Avenue to the Leeton Memorial Shrine at the Leeton Soldiers Club for a short memorial service.

Lockhart: 9am Memorial Service at the Obelisk – Lockhart Cemetery. 10.30am March departing from outside the Commercial Hotel to the Cenotaph in Hebden Street for Commemoration and wreath laying service. 

Pleasant Hills: 9am Commemoration and wreath laying at Pleasant Hills Public Hall.

The Rock: 6am Dawn Service at Soldier Memorial, Urana Street, followed by gunfire breakfast at The Rock Memorial Bowling Club. 10.15am Congregate in front of The Rock Memorial Bowling Club for March at 10.30am to Cenotaph in Urana Street. 12.30pm Luncheon at The Rock Memorial Bowling Club.

Yerong Creek: 11am Commemoration and wreath laying at Stanley Galvin Park.
