From the ring to the lounge room, Narrandera’s Bidgee Boxing will be featured on episode 16 of The Living Room airing October 16 on Channel 10.
The Living Room team comes to Narrandera with the intent to promote Bidgee Boxing and founder’s, Neville Bamblett and his wife Nikita’s mission to bring physical and mental health to the local community.
The episode will feature various sites throughout Narrandera and will have a focus on Mr Bamblett’s mission to provide boxing, health and fitness to community members and give back to people that give so much to the community.
“It was a little overwhelming at the time but it was a great experience,” Mr Bamblett said.
“The hosts were great, it felt like I’d known them all of my life and they were so fun to be around.
“They checked out a few places around town and had a great time.”
The episode features the renovation of Bidgee Boxing’s former squash court into a new multi-functional exercise space, as well as an interview with former boxing champ Anthony Mundine.
Hosts explore the Murrumbidgee river and learn about its importance to the area and to Mr Bamblett, as one of the Wiradjuri people.
Narrandera Bidgee Boxing personal trainer Rachel Hyde was also involved with the filming of The Living Room episode.
“The new space is lovely and it will be great when we can finally show it off,” Ms Hyde said.
“The nomination for the show was actually for Neville originally but Neville wanted the story to be done on the gym instead.”
Bidgee Boxing and the running group Bidgee Bolters will soon be hosting their own City2Surf event, known as the Town2Beach on Sunday, October 18.
There will be two courses, including a trail run and family friendly run, both 14km in distance.
The event will start and finish at the Bidgee Boxing clubhouse “The Shack” at the Narrandera showgrounds.
“The Shack is looking awesome and we are excited to show it off,” Ms Hyde said.
“It’s not just for runners, it’s for everyone, walker, bikes, prams and the serious runners.
We are excited to show off our commons and beautiful reserve area.
“Our volunteers will be dressing up and we have music at our drink stations.
“We’ve got big signs set up for the different spots along the run, people will be able to get selfies with the signs with the river in the background.”
A coffee van will be available from 8am at The Shack and the races will start at 9am.
There will be a sausage sizzle, live music, a raffle and presentation from 11.30am.
The event is open to everyone and the focus is on bringing the community together in fitness and in fun.
