The Narrandera Tennis Club’s existing committee are retiring or moving on, presenting a great opportunity for new committee members to take the reins to re-engage local tennis enthusiasts in the community.
Long-time Narrandera Tennis Club committee member Penny Lane and other existing members believe the club will benefit from a new committee and some new ideas.
“We believe as much as this family, friendly, fun and social sport for all ages and skill levels, it is a fundamental part of Narrandera’s sporting scene and without a new committee the club will very likely close,” Mrs Lane said.
“The existing committee members have been involved for a long time and are either injured, moving on or are wanting to redirect energy to other commitments and committees.
“Tennis is an enjoyable sport with opportunities for juniors and seniors to play in a flexible format determined by a committee to be held on any given day, time and in any structure.”
The Narrandera Tennis Club is affiliated with Tennis NSW and is in sound financial position.
The club hosts a Tuesday afternoon social tennis competition, which has been running for 20 years and is well attended.
The club also has a good relationship with some excellent coaches from Griffith who come over to coach the children.
“The committee roles are straightforward and rewarding,” Mrs Lane said.
“This is a great opportunity for anyone enthusiastic about ensuring tennis continues in Narrandera.”
