Marie Cahill turned 101 years old on February 19, and her family and friends helped her celebrate this milestone.

“My daughter, her husband, and one of my grandsons came up and lots of my friends came around,” Mrs Cahill said.

“I got lots of lovely cards.

“We went down to the Lazy Lizard, and we had a very nice time and a lovely evening.”

Mrs Cahill likes to keep busy looking after her house and garden and does not have much spare time.

However, when she does, she likes to go out and meet her friends, have cappuccinos at Café Shazaray with family, or helps the Church of England op shop for four hours a week.

Mrs Cahill also has a great passion for travelling and exploring new places.

“I have travelled half the world, like Europe and Asia, and my last one was the French Polynesian Islands,” Mrs Cahill said.

“I also have been all around Australia.”

Her secret to living a great, rewarding life is to stay active and eat healthy.

“I used to play hockey and I have always been involved in sport, like horse riding and swimming.

“I eat vegetables and fruit, and these have helped me have a good lifestyle.

“I now want to keep going the way I am.”
