The Golden Boot Touch Football Carnival returned to Narrandera Sportsground for yet another year yesterday 12 November.

This year’s event shaped up – with 16 teams registered.

But beyond the football action and fun, visitors plus locals came together for something much bigger.

This year’s worthy cause helped the partner and three children of the late Detective Senior Constable Carl Wilkinson who tragically passed away in December last year, “Wilko” as he was known, served in both the city and Southern Region.

“Everyone who knew him will tell you the same – he was a true gentleman who gave his all for his family and the community he served,” said a spokesperson for the organisers.

This year’s carnival raised money for his family, and most importantly, showed his children that their Dad will never be forgotten.

Last year’s event raised $12,500 for an equally deserving recipient.
