The South West Anglers Association held its annual meeting at Narrandera earlier this month.
The were a few minor changes to the leadership group:
• Chris Beale (Burrumbuttock) was elected president.
• Former president Russell Harris (Numurkah) vice-president.
• Terry Maloney (Walbundrie) remains as Secretary.
• Merrilyn Strachan (Corowa) remains as treasurer.
Chris Beale is not new to the leadership crew and has served in no less than 18 occasions since 2001.
The executive are joined by an additional four committee members, Jim Muirhead, Ash Lafferty, Frank Barbaro and this year a warm welcome is extended to Jacob Guy (Jindera).
Jacob is an avid fisherman but is also keen to advocate for the health of our rivers and the better management based on the requirements of native fish.
Events coordinators will be Chris and Jocey Beale, whose job will be the two competitions and fundraising events such as Bunnings sausage sizzles etc.
After all the formalities the crowd was given a very interesting and valuable presentation from My Insurance Specialists (the club’s insurance brokers) representatives Ricky Quach and Mark Fulton.
There was also an update on the breeding program of the blue nose (trout) cod which will be largely focused and based at the Narrandera Fisheries Centre by Tim McGarry.
