Narrandera Junior Lizards travelled to Leeton for the first Gala Day of the season last weekend, officially kicking off the 2025 junior rugby league season in style.

With eight teams representing the club, it was a big day of footy with a total of 17 games played by Lizards players across various age groups.

The day also saw the Lizards Under 8s proudly complete their Tackle Ready program, demonstrating great effort and determination as they build up to contact games. It was a fantastic start for all teams, with players showing energy, enthusiasm and strong sportsmanship.

A huge shoutout and thank you goes to the Leeton Junior Greenies for hosting such a well-organised event.

With 12 fields running simultaneously throughout the day, the coordination and effort put into the Gala Day was outstanding.

Looking ahead, Round One sees Narrandera with a bye, followed by a short break over the school holidays.

However junior leaguewill be coming back strong with a local derby showdown against friends and rivals, the Leeton Greenies.

The Narrandera Junior Rugby League Club is proud to be fielding nine teams this year – a fantastic effort and testament to the growth of the sport in the Narrandera community.

However, they arestill on the lookout for players to join thhe Under 14s tackle team. Any player who is keen to be part of something special, come along to training on Thursdays at 5pm.
