Barellan United Football Netball Club will celebrate a remarkable milestone for one of its most dedicated and respected clubmen Jeff Mickan this Saturday.
Mickan will take the field for his 200th First Grade game for the Barellan Two Blues.
His football journey began at Barellan in 1996, where he made an immediate impact as a tough and talented competitor. He played a pivotal role in the club’s Senior Premiership three-peat in 1996, 1997 and 1998, cementing his place in one of the most successful periods in Two Blues history.
Seeking to challenge himself further, he moved to the Griffith Swans in 2000, where he continued to showcase his talent at a high level, playing 213 First Grade games across 12 seasons.
His time at Griffith only strengthened his football credentials and broadened the respect he held across the wider Riverina football community.
In 2012, Mickeb returned home to Barellan and since his return he has now reached 200 First Grade games for the Two Blues and has also played 40 Reserve Grade games, always willing to pull on the boots to support the club wherever needed.
He has also collected a seniors best and fairest win in 2012 and was runner-up in 2014 and 2015.
In total, he has amassed an incredible 413 First-Grade games across his career – an impressive achievement that speaks to his durability, dedication and lifelong passion for the game.
Few can match that kind of longevity, and even fewer can say they’ve done it with such humility and commitment to their club.
Mickan’s contribution to the Barellan United Football and Netball Club goes far beyond the boundary line. He has been a tireless volunteer and a passionate club leader, serving on the committee from 2012, including an eight-year tenure as Club President from 2016 to 2024. Under his leadership, the club has continued to grow, rebuild, and thrive – both on and off the field.
This Saturday Barellan will celebrate this distinguished player and all that he has achieved both on and off the field.
