Narrandera District Community Radio Inc Spirit FM 91.1’s premises at the historic Narrandera Railway Station has benefited from a few wonderful improvements during 2022.

Narrandera Signs had previously developed and supplied a bright and cheery design for the station’s outdoor broadcasting van so it was decided to bring the same design to showcase the radio’s home base.

Spokesperson for Spirit FM, secretary Sue Ruffles, commented that everyone involved in the station are most appreciative of Narrandera Sign’s creativity and professionalism in developing and installing the fun design on the van and now on the wall on the western end of the railway station.

Sue went on to say that 2022 has been a strong year for Spirit FM with generous membership support, sponsorships and grants from within the community with so much more ahead.

“2023 is Narrandera District Community Radio’s 18th birthday year so we’re really excited about some ideas we’ve got to grow our community partnerships and to offer more and more community service,” she said.

The station relies on membership, sponsorships and community support to maintain its broadcasting licence as well as to assist in the many running costs associated with keeping the radio on-air. Spirit FM 91.1 is rather a unique community radio station as it in on air 24-hours and live streaming is available from outside the broadcasting area. The station would love to hear from anyone thinking about advertising their businesses and/or events and anyone after a bargain to advertise with daily and special-event announcements. Spirit FM is also seeking additional sponsorship from interested businesses, community people or groups to assist to particularly cover increasing insurance, Telstra and news-feed costs. The 2022 Spirit FM Christmas Raffle is being held in conjunction with the station’s annual membership support ‘drive’. A $10 annual membership support payment will put people in the 10-prize raffle (3 tickets) which will be drawn on-air on Saturday December 17 after the midday news and will be filmed and put on the Spirit FM Facebook page.

Details of how to secure memberships and raffle tickets can be found on Facebook with direct deposit or Eventbrite options as well as information to many via either post, texts, emails and around some businesses in town. Spirit FM will be also in East Street a few times in the coming weeks with an outdoor broadcast Friday December 2 as an opportunity to come and say hi and grab your membership and tickets.
