Narrandera Eagles first grade have spread their wings, coming up trumps with their second win for the season against Griffith Swans on Saturday.
The win came off the back of two disappointing losses to Leeton Whitton Crows and Wagga Tigers.
The boys got off to a flyer in the first half putting the pressure on Griffith at half time.
Luke Mckay was outstanding giving lots of running at half back and kicking just a lazy four goals.
The inclusion of Angus Durnan was another welcome addition after missing last week, giving the team a great target at centre half forward.
Griffith came hard in the second half however and only some desperate defence by Connor Vearing and Luke Paterson held Griffith in the dying minutes.
The boys coming out on top 14.6 (90) to 12.11 (83).
Best Players were Luke Mckay, Kane Williams, Luke Paterson, Connor Vearing, Tom Van Buuren and Angus Durnan.
Unfortunately, Eagles reserve grade came up against a handy Griffith side on Saturday.
A few boys had to pull out from Thursday nights selected side due to work commitments which did not help.
They had a slow start, however were able to play some good passages of footy as the game went on.
Joel Maniscalo and Michael Mellon never gave up in the midfield.
Drew Matthews had his best game for the season and is a handy inclusion up forwards, whilst Tyla Rose provided good run from the backline.
The final Score was Narrandera 2.2 (14) to Griffith 20.12 (132).
Saturday was again a tough one for the Under 17s, as they came up against an undefeated Griffith side holding the number one position on the ladder.
From start to finish, the Eagles found it tough, in what would be the side’s biggest loss of the year.
Lachlan Kerr was again everywhere for the Eagles as was Ky Bloom eld and Dylan Johnson. The under 17’5’s now set their sights on Coolamon in two weeks in what shapes up as a winnable game for the young Eagles.
