The Narrandera Knights women headed to Leeton last week for finals day of the MIA League. The senior basketball intertown competition is played in a home and away series. Narrandera finished second to Leeton on percentage at the end of the six rounds, with the head-to-head one game apiece. With a youthful line-up that included seven Under 20s, the Knights started well on Saturday and were able to maintain a lead at each change. Unfortunately, the margin was not enough to stop Leeton’s charge home in the final quarter. In a hard-fought match. Narrandera’s foul issues coupled with Leeton’s accurate shooting allowed Leeton to power through to a 74–63 victory. In the men’s competition, the Knights enjoyed some very close and competitive games across the home and away rounds. The men’s final between West Wyalong and Griffith followed the women’s game, with West Wyalong coming away with the title. Narrandera Basketball would like to thank all of the players who made themselves available over the seven weekends of the competition, referees, coaches, score table officials and especially the spectators who came down to support the teams.
