Triple gold medallist Matt Ryan will give local riders an opportunity of a lifetime to receive instruction from one of the nation’s best riders.

Only the second Australian equestrian after Laurie Morgan to win gold in the individual and team’s three day event at the same Olympic Games, Ryan will run an evening clinic at Narrandera Pony Club this weekend.

He will be giving riders instructions in the disciplines of showjumping on Saturday and cross country on Sunday.

Members of the public are welcome as spectators but must check in with the QR code at the front gate upon entry.

There will be a casual barbecue on Saturday night from 6pm and Matt will have his gold medals with him, and be mingling with guests.

Ryan, 56, won two gold at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona and one at the 2000 at the Sydney games.

He finished eighth at the 1992 Badminton Horse Trials, was selected for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics but was forced to withdraw due to horse injury, and was the reserve rider for the 2004 Athens Olympics.

Ryan announced his retirement in 2013 to concentrate on training and teaching riders.

If any members of the general public wish to attend the barbecue ($5 cost), they can contact Helen Langley (0438 593 522) prior to Friday afternoon for catering purposes.
