Narrandera Landcare is calling on locals to roll up their sleeves for Clean Up Australia Day on Sunday, 1 March. Meet at 8.30am at the Tiger Moth Memorial and lend a hand to help keep Narrandera looking its best.
Sue Ruffles, vice president of Narrandera Landcare, knows how a few small efforts can make a big difference. “What I love about Clean Up Australia Day is that it’s an opportunity for everyone to come together and do a little for our beautiful environment. I’m always disappointed to see rubbish thrown and left around our town and surrounds, but it’s heartening to know there are so many people in our community who really care about the environment and always look out for ways to clean up when they can,” Sue said.
Participants are encouraged to wear sun-safe clothing and closed-in shoes and don’t forget to bring your water bottle. Rubbish bags and basic gear will be provided, all you need to bring is your community spirit.
“Narrandera’s Clean Up is a real community and family-oriented morning out. It’s always satisfying to see spots cleaned up and smiles on faces, knowing that small efforts make a big difference,” Sue added.
If you can’t make it on the day but still want to help, you can report larger dump sites through:
• RIDonline: https://ridonline.epa.nsw.gov.au
• Narrandera Shire Council’s Illegal Dumping Portal: https://www.narrandera.nsw.gov.au/Services/Compliance/Illegal-dumping
Whether you join the clean up crew or report an area in need, every small action helps protect our local environment.
