While the women have been preparing the women and wool display at Lockhart’s Green Gunyah Museum, the men have been busy restoring the 1910 furphy which was donated to the museum by Bryce Hore, a grandson of Thomas Bond.
It is likely that Bryce inherited it from the Bond family.
The furphy was re-barrelled at the Good Old Days Festival at Barellan in October, and the Lockhart Men’s Shed have shaped the shafts.
The Men’s Shed have also been helpful building the plints for the Women and Wool display and the museum thanks them for their assistance.
The furphy is now on display next to Tim Fischer’s Ford Tractor.
