The response so far to the new painted wall at the Murrumbidgee pool in Darlington Point has been remarkable.
The mural features locally significant wildlife, including the vulnerable Superb Parrot (Polytelis swainsonii), the Crimson ‘yellow’ Rosella (Platycercus elegans flaveolus), the Dollarbird (Eurystomus orientalis) and native bees, all set among carefully detailed local flora, including wildflowers and Golden Wattles. A soft riverbank silhouette subtly references the Murrumbidgee River, and the River Red Gums that line the riverbanks.
Murrumbidgee mayor Ruth McRae OAM said the council is thrilled with the creation.
The completed artwork delivers on this vision, transforming what was once a plain wall into a vibrant visual asset that instils community pride, strengthens local identity and contributes to the area’s tourism appeal.
A huge thanks to street artist Jordan Lucky Artist for creating this stunning showcase of local nature and also to the generous anonymous donor who funded it. Thank you also to the staff who helped bring the project to life.
A new sign is in production with the pool’s name on it.
