WESTERN Junior League Basketball Round 1 action brought an influx of visitors to the region from Bathurst, Dubbo, Lithgow, Mudgee, Orange, West Wyalong and Young, competing alongside the local host associations Narrandera, Griffith and Leeton.

The Narrandera Knights for 2025 involve U12B, U14B, U16B, U18B, U14G and U16G sides. Challenges for the Knights in Round 1 included a couple of recent season-ending injuries, player and coach availability.

Playing three to four matches over the weekend, the collective Knights teams finished with a mixed bag of results.

Of particular note were the U16G and U14G sides which enjoyed undefeated starts to their season. These first competitive matches provided coaches across all teams with key areas to focus on in the lead up to Round 2 to be held in just over a fortnight.

Narrandera’s local Autumn Basketball Junior Competition commences this week and this will be followed by next week’s launch of the Senior comp. An influx of senior men means an eight-team competition, presenting lots of opportunities for spectators to savour.

The Association is currently seeking an Aussie Hoops coordinator. The program is tailored to suit children aged five to 10, concentrating on skills and development and is the perfect introduction for budding ballers.

Anyone interested and able to give two hours a week towards the program is encouraged to get in touch through the Facebook page.
