Mass had been said in private homes in the Galore district as early as 1895 in the days of horse and sulky. Geographically, Galore sat on the boundaries of Wagga, Lockhart and Narrandera parishes and over the years it was served by all these three at different times.

Prior to the church being built, Mass was celebrated in the local hall. In 1956 St Kevin’s was built at a cost of £10,150 with much local support from the Catholic community.

The Irish Saint Kevin was chosen in memory of Kevin Mahon who was killed in WWII.

The future plan is to celebrate Mass monthly on the first Sunday of the month at 6pm during daylight saving time and 5pm when daylight saving time ends.

January is yet to be decided as many may be away.
