Narrandera appeared to escape much of the wild storm which hit the neighbouring town of Leeton and the city of Griffith on Monday night.

The NSW RFS – MIA District thanked all NSW RFS volunteers who have been assisting the SES with the clean-up following the destructive storm.

Residents are reminded not to burn green waste.

The MIA District is currently in the Bush Fire Danger Period, and the following restrictions apply:

• A Fire Permit is required for any burning.

• Burning is only permitted from 4:00pm, and all fires must be fully extinguished by midnight.

• No pile burns are permitted.

• No burning of pruning’s or tree debris is allowed under current conditions.

• All permit conditions must be strictly adhered to.

Burning storm debris significantly increases the risk of fires escaping, creates smoke impacts, and places additional pressure on emergency services already supporting storm recovery operations.

Residents are encouraged to take all green waste to the local waste facility/garbage tip, where it can be safely managed.
