A decade ago, Ganmain Grong Grong Matong Lions had no netball associated with its junior ranks.

But this year the club had three grades of netball in the grand finals – the Under 10s, Under 13s and Under 14s.

Coached by Naomi Smith and Virginia Baggio, the Under 10s did not come away with a win against East Lakes MCU but played with all their heart.

Zanthe Richards was awarded best on court with her fast drive and strong passes dominating through the centre court.

The final score was East Lakes MCU 16 to Lions 5.

Coached by Kerri McPherson, the Under 13s are an up and coming side.

Kerri brought the girls together as a team with a number of new players joining this year.

The game against Wagga Tigers was fast and of a high standard, and again they didn’t get the win but having just made fourth place and scraping into the finals, to have made the grand final was a great achievement.

The final score was 31-16.

Emily McPherson, a dominating player with skills well beyond her years, was awarded best on court.

The Under 14s had a lot of expectations on them after winning grand finals in the past.

The game against Turvey Park was tight, with GGGM up by one at quarter time and down by one at half time.

There were some positional changes made at half time with a positive result, allowing the girls to take a five goal lead at three-quarter time and getting the win by six goals at the final siren.

The final score was Lions 27 to Turvey Park 21.

Ava Pritchett was named best on court as reward for her superb shooting and movement in the circle.
