Windows of businesses in Narrandera and Leeton were smashed in the early hours of Sunday morning with police responding with an investigation and extra patrols.
Windows were broken and glass fell onto the footpath in East Street and Leeton’s Pine Avenue following an attack by unknown assailants.
Despite the incidents happening at the same time in different towns police say the two instances are not linked at this stage.
“At this stage it is still under investigation,” Murrumbidgee Police Inspector Justin Cornes said.
Police are seeking to obtain CCTV footage and have seized items that were there for forensic analysis.
“We are seeking public assistance for witnesses to come forward and tell us if they know anything. At this stage the incidents are isolated and we don’t believe it’s part of a bigger problem. Malicious damage incidents are down across both towns,” he said.
However, with the easing of COVID-19 restrictions police are seeing more people out late at night and with football and community sport kicking off they expect to see more people out on the weekends.
Police have indicated they will be increasing their patrols during those times.
