Murrumbidgee Men’s Group was chuffed at the support from Narrandera when it partnered with Bidgee Boxing recently for a catch-up at The Shack at the Narrandera Showground.

Men from all walks of life came together and spoke openly and honestly about mental health, so much so that the MMG has promised to return to the town later this year.

The Men’s Group is a men’s mental health and wellness group founded in 2019 and based in Wagga.

It connects men from all walks of life, cultures and beliefs and aged over 16 with like-minded men in a supportive environment that is free of judgment. They can talk openly about issues they may be facing including but not limited to depression, anxiety, PTSD, suicide and worklife stress.

“It was great to partner up with Nev Bamblett from Bidgee Boxing and The Shack was an amazing place to have a meet up - was definitely a highlight in our time running the Murrumbidgee Men’s Group,” the MMG spokesmen said.

“To see the turnout we had as well as the feedback we received off the men that came really highlighted how important it is to run groups like MMG where men can build friendships and be supported through their mental health journeys. Connection and community is key to mental health and it makes what we do very rewarding.

“The meeting had a really good turnout. Men from all walks of life came together with something in common - bettering their mental health. They spoke openly and honestly with each other and the vibe that was around the circle was very special.”
