Narrandera golfer Braxton Ivanoff visited Sydney last week to participate in two events - an Athlete Leadership Program he was invited to attend the Regional Academies of Sport Annual Awards Night.
The young golfer’s invitation to the awards night came after he had been named a major award winner at the previous Southern Sports Academy Presentation Night.
Braxton’s mother, Nicole, said the standout highlight for Braxton during the Athlete Leadership Program was the Pressure to Performance breathwork session delivered by HPP – Human Performance Program.
“The day was filled with learning, growth and connection,” she said.
“Learning how to control breathing in high-pressure moments is such a valuable tool, especially in golf.
“Beyond the sessions, Braxton loved connecting with talented athletes from a wide range of sports and continuing to build strong friendships across the academies.
“That evening, he swapped his polo and joggers for a suit and attended the Regional Academies of Sport Annual Awards Night.”
Nicole said her son was honoured to be a nominee, alongside all the regional recipients of the UAA Indigenous Athlete of the Year Award.
“While he wasn’t announced as the overall winner, the real win was the experience, the people and the opportunity to be part of such a special event,” Nicole said.
“The evening was made even more inspiring by guest speaker, Olympic gold medallist Noemie Fox, who shared her journey of determination, resilience and the highs and lows she faced chasing her Olympic dream - striving to become an Olympian like the rest of her family.
“Her story was a powerful reminder of the perseverance and belief required to reach the highest level of sport.
“To top off an already memorable day, Braxton had the privilege of watching his coach, James Purcell (Purcell Golf-Wagga), win the Overall Coach of the Year Award.”
Nicole thanked Purcell for everything he does for Braxton and the entire Southern Sports Academy golf squad.
“Your dedication does not go unnoticed,” Nicole said.
“We would also like to acknowledge both the Regional Academies of Sport and the Southern Sports Academy for the tireless work they do behind the scenes for their athletes.
“The opportunities, support, guidance and belief they provide young sportspeople is truly invaluable and Braxton is incredibly grateful to be part of such a dedicated and passionate organisation.”
