The recent Narrandera Little Athletics Carnival featured a multitude of young athletes smashing several existing records.

The club’s first carnival in more than 20 years was a milestone for the club and its members, with multiple personal bests, club records and a long-standing record being broken.

The record-breaking athletes included Oliver Groat, who shaved just 0.1 seconds off the previous 70 metres race in a new record time of 12.51s (Previous: 12.52s).

Other record-breaking feats included:

Lane Henry: 700m Race Walk

New Record: 5:43.84s (Previous: 5:47.34)

Anna Burns: High Jump Scissor

New Record: 1.14m (Previous: 1.07m)

Freya Doyle: High Jump Scissor

New Record: 1.07m (Previous: 1.05m)

Pixie Hodgson: Shot Put MC: 6.53m (Previous: 6.32m)

Javelin MC: 17.92m (Previous: 11.20m)

Levi Collins: High Jump Scissor

Equalled Record: 0.95m

Records are made to be broken and Harry Vidler did exactly that when he smashed a 30-year-old existing record.

He shattered the previous longstanding Discus record of 21.40m set in 1996 by Mark Powell by throwing a massive 23.65m.

The club congratulated all the athletes who made the town proud at the carnival, saying their results were a fantastic reward for the hard work they had shown throughout the season.
